Meryl Streep softening the Iron Lady

Margaret Thatcher has gone down in history as one of Britain's  most iconic politicians -  Prime Minister of the UK from 1979 to 1990, her strong will, strict policies and political strength quickly earned her the title of the “Iron Lady”.

I think most would agree that creating a movie about such a figure – who is still alive (Thatcher being 86 years old now) -  is asking for some trouble but the movie doesn't too deeply into her politics as we would expect...

Showed looking back on her life, director Phyllida Lloyd said that the movie is like “a Shakespearean story about power and loss, and the cost of a huge life, and letting go," he told Reuters. "You needed someone of the magnitude of Meryl Streep to take on Margaret Thatcher's size and personality. You needed a superstar to play a superstar," Lloyd said.

More than a movie biography of Thatcher and her politics, Streep and the film-makers sought to draw out the human element of Thatchers life, and look to the Iron Lady herself.

Janet Jackson can "breathe a little better"

With the trail over, Janet Jackson says she can "breathe a little better" and start looking towards the future.

In November this year, Michael Jackson's personal doctor, Conrad Murray was found guilty of the involuntary manslaughter in the pop star's death.

45-year-old singer and sister to Michael, Janet, admitted the trial marked a stressful time and she is glad to have the chance now to move on. Affected too has been her weight – a struggle she has battled with for years. A self-proclaimed ‘emotional eater’ she is positive about the future: "I have little ways to go to get healthy and to feel the best that I know I can feel. I know I'm on my way to success.”

Jack and the Giant Killer trailer released

We love Hollywood's most recent trend: turning fairy tales into block busters. There is two upcoming Snow White movies and a Hansel and Gretal in the works. Now the folks working on Jack and Giant Killer (a take on Jack and the Beanstalk) have released a trailer.

X-Men director Bryan Singer and Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class) have taken the reigns on this project and immediately, you see a darkness with forbidding beats matching the theme. The bean stalk magically shoots up into the sky, through Jack's humble home and taking along the princess who is visiting him. The King is none too pleased and Jack, along with the army has to rescue her.

We think this flick could be as magical as the beans Jack gets! We await with bated breath for June 2012 when it comes out.

Paris Jackson on 'Ellen'

Paris, Michael Jackson's daughter usually keeps under the radar, but she gave a rare TV interview this week on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, chatting about her dad and her  budding acting career.

Only 13-years-old, she's been in the spot-light before but often her dad, who died aged 50 in 2009, made his 3 kids wear masks when in public with him to protect them from the frenzy of media and public attention that accompanied their every appearance.

"Yeah, I'm like this is stupid, why am I wearing a mask?" Paris told show host Ellen DeGeneres. "But I kind of realised the older I got, like, he only tried to protect us and he'd explain that to us too."

Set to appear in her first movie - Lundon's Bridge and the Three Keys, Paris says she's been gearing up for it for years:"When I was really little. My dad was in the movie Moonwalker and I knew he could sing really well but I didn't know he could act. I saw that and I said, wow, I want to be just like him.

"We would do 'improv' together. He would give us little scenarios. He would (say) 'OK, in this scene you're going to cry' and I'd cry on the spot."

Feel you want to get a bit closer to the world of Harry Potter - closer than author JK Rowling could take you in the book? Universal Studios and Warner Bros have revealed that they will be creating their own Hogwarts for the world to see.

Don't get too excited, this may take three to four years to complete, but when it's done you will be toasting each other with Butterbear whilst in a huge Hogwarts castle!
