One Direction scoop 3 MTV Video Awards
Brit boy band, One Direction, dominated at the MTV Video Awards this week, where they scooped three of the awards on offer.
The five former X-Factor contestant won awards for best pop video, best new artist and most share-worthy video at the Los Angeles event. And a pat on their back from band manager, Simon Cowell.
"Congratulations 1D. I'm very proud of you. Celebrate!" he tweeted.
"Thank you so much! We have grown up watching this show and to collect one of these [awards] straight away is incredible," said Niall Horan, speaking from the stage
The awards show kicked off with a performance by Rihanna, who also took home the award for video of the year for her hit 'We Found Love'.
Other awards saw Coldplay scooping best rock video for 'Paradise', Katy Perry picking up best art direction for 'Wide Awake' and Chris Brown claiming best male video and best choreography for 'Turn Up the Music'.
