A warm Jozi welcome for Lady Gaga

Ecstatic Lady Gaga fans managed to get past airport security last night in a bid to get a little closer to their idol. Realising security had been breached, the star was whisked quickly back to her private plane at Lanseria airport.

Over 300 fans made their way to the airport after hearing the news of Gaga's arrival on the radio yesterday afternoon.

A change in tack saw Gaga emerge from a white car a little later, wearing a short blonde bob, a black bra and dress and gold sunnies. She greeted her fans and signed some autographs before being whisked away.

The Dream Team Reunite at Breaking Dawn 2 Premiere

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson looked every part the dream team on the red carpet at the LA premiere of Twilight: Breaking Dawn 2 on Monday night.

The recently reunited couple, who went through a very public breakup earlier this year, looked relaxed with each other as they posed for the cameras.

K-Stew wore a lacy, nude Zuhair Murad gown that showed off her enviable figure and legs, while R-Pattz opted for a deep forest green Gucci suit for the much-awaited premiere.

Neither Tinseltown regular has confirmed or denied their reconciliation, but in recent weeks, the pair has been spotted together in Los Angeles and New York City.

A source cited trust issues as a reason for the split.

The 30-year-old actress married musician Justin Timberlake last Friday (19 October) after dating on and off for five years. In an interview with People magazine, she said she would only use 'Biel' for work, but otherwise will be known as Jessica Timerlake.

"Yes, I'm changing my name. My professional name will still be the same, but for life, yes, I think it sounds great. I think I really won the jackpot of names," she said

Adele reportedly gave birth to a baby boy last week, her first child with boyfriend Simon Konecki, and is said to be over the moon.

A source told The Sunday Poeple: "Adele and Simon are ecstatic at their new arrival".

The SkyFall singer announced her pregnancy in June and asked fans to "respect" her "privacy" at the time.

Christina Aguilera offered millions to be the face of plus-size dating website

The Voice judge has reportedly been offered over R25 million to be the new spokesperson for a dating site for "big and beautiful" women.

A source told gossip website TMZ that the 31-year-old has been approached by former 'America's Next Top Model' winner Whitney Thompson who runs TheBigandTheBeautiful.com.

Whitney, who was the first plus-sized model to win the reality competition, sent a letter offering Christina the huge sum to be affiliated with the website, which is "specifically designed for women with curves".

The deal would reportedly involve photo-shoots, public appearances as well as TV and radio advertisements that would feature Christina singing.

Christina is said to have received the offer because she recently claimed she is very comfortable in her own skin.

The estranged Twilight stars, Robert and Kristen, have finally reconciled. That's the news from the UK's The Sun newspaper. Rob was reportedly left gutted after Kirsten cheated on him with 'Snow White and the Huntsman' director Rupert Sanders. But according to The Sun, he decided to give her a second chance after realising her affair was a "stupid mistake".

A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper that the couple had worked it out after a lot of long, tearful talks. "They pretty much decided they couldn't live without each other," the source revealed.
"Kristen poured her heart out to Robert and told him it was a one-off and a mistake. Rob can see how truly sorry Kristen is and has totally forgiven her. They really do love each other."

The couple have moved back in together and are due to appear side by side on the red carpet in November for the final Twilight film Breaking Dawn - Part 2.

One Direction scoop 3 MTV Video Awards

Brit boy band, One Direction, dominated at the MTV Video Awards this week, where they scooped three of the awards on offer.

The five former X-Factor contestant won awards for best pop video, best new artist and most share-worthy video at the Los Angeles event. And a pat on their back from band manager, Simon Cowell.

"Congratulations 1D. I'm very proud of you. Celebrate!" he tweeted.

"Thank you so much! We have grown up watching this show and to collect one of these [awards] straight away is incredible," said Niall Horan, speaking from the stage

The awards show kicked off with a performance by Rihanna, who also took home the award for video of the year for her hit 'We Found Love'.

Other awards saw Coldplay scooping best rock video for 'Paradise', Katy Perry picking up best art direction for 'Wide Awake' and Chris Brown claiming best male video and best choreography for 'Turn Up the Music'.

Billie Joe home from hospital

After being rushed to hospital in Italy over the weekend and having to cancel shows in the area, Green Day frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong, is now back in LA and resting up, according to E! Online.

"Although the band didn't disclose details about Armstrong's illness, reports claim it had something to do with Armstrong's throat," reported E!.

Bandmates, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool, released a video apologising to fans for having to cancel their Italian gigs.

"We apologise profusely," Dirnt said. "Billy got rushed to the hospital last night due to illness. The doctors don't think it's a good idea for him to play today."

"We're beyond devastated," Tré Cool added. "We're as sad as you guys are. Billie's extremely upset about it, and we'll see you very soon."

Are Lady Gaga's followers 'fake'?

Lady Gaga has almost 30 million followers on Twitter, but are they for real? In a report in The Guardian last week, a British start-up, alleged that only 29% of Gaga's followers are legit.

The company, Status People, claims to have devised a tool for rooting out fake and inactive Twitter accounts which are being used to inflate the number of followers on certain accounts.

So is Lady Gaga really faking it? Well, it's likely, but she probably doesn't even know it. It's unlikely a celeb of Gaga's status is managing her own social media accounts, which means a publicist or agent has probably recruited a few extra followers on her behalf.

According to E!, social media experts say these accounts can be bots or a group of zombie accounts created by clever programmers. "Those zombie accounts can then be ordered to follow a sweet of Twitter accounts that make them look like a certain demographic - say, young moms or teen metal fans."

If the report is true, Lady Gaga may have closer to 9 million real followers. Yup, that's 9 big ones. Doesn't sound like a figure that needs much inflating to us!

Usher back on stage

The last few months have been really tough on Usher, but after a short break, he's ready to take up his place behind the mic again.

The R&B singer stepped out of the spotlight for a few months to deal with some personal issues, among them the death of his stepson and a court battle with his ex-wife for custody of his two sons, which he won.

According to a Huffington Post report desperate fans struggled with the singer's time out. "Man, it's like, 'Shut up and entertain, we don't care about your personal stuff'," joked Usher.

And entertain he will.

Usher will be one of the favourites at this month's iTunes festival in London, performing free shows at the Roundhouse alongside other big names like Muse, Alicia Keys and One Direction.

RHCP pre-sale tickets were up for grabs today

So it appears that pre-sale tickets for the Red Hot Chili Peppers' shows in Cape Town and Johannesburg had opened this morning at 9am via the band's website.

Fans on Twitter and Facebook have been posting photos and sharing their exciting news throughout the day about their already bought tickets. I have to add that this surprise pre-sale caused major distraction in the office today.

Tickets go on sale to the public on Computicket for the Johannesburg performance at 09:00 on Wednesday 29 August, followed by Cape Town at 09:00 on Thursday 30 August.

"The Expendables 2" smashes the Box Office

"The Expendables 2" movie has won the weekend's box office ranking raking in a whopper $28.8 million.

Although it may have beaten movies like "The Bourne Legacy" and "ParaNorman" which were also out this past weekend, it failed to outdo its predecessor "The Expendables", which brought in $34.8 million during its opening weekend.

Lionsgate executive Vice President of distribution David Spitz told THR that they were expecting to have a much more greater run as the older audiences wouldn't have rushed out to the cinema this opening weekend to check it out.

Tom will not miss Suri's first day at school

Suri Cruise is about to start private school at Avenues in September after being home-schooled.

A source close to Tom explained: "It's a big moment in Suri's life and Katie wants Tom to be a part of that".

RadarOnline's insider shared that Katie's desire to enroll Suri in school was one of the main reasons why she decided to split from Tom, whose two children with Nicole Kidman were home-schooled by Scientology tutors. Tom isn't happy about it and wants to be a big part of Suri's life at school.

Fox's entertainment president, Kevin Reilly, made the announcement at the Fox executive session panel at the Television Critic's Association Summer Press Tour.

Shortly after the announcement to the audience, Fox issued a statement confirming Carey's involvement.

The Batman crew speak out about the Aurora shooting

Nolan had this to say to the media:
