
The charity (who Jackson's mother and father are on the board of directors of) claims that it is the successor to Michael's now defunct charity inspired by the song and as a result has fought to stake its claim to several Jackson-related trademarks and likeness rights that the singer's estate claims that it should own.
It's no small amount that's been fought over here - the trademarks are worth millions of dollars and importantly, a piece of Jackson's legacy. Katherine Jackson insists that "Michael would be very upset, if he knew that our charity was being torn down by people who say they are doing what he wanted." but the Estate claims that they have no right to these trademarks.
