"Born This Way" Album caps 1.1 million sales in first week

She gave us a teaser to increase the hype by selling the single "Born This Way" before the album hit the shelves - and the ply worked. Lady Gaga has her first No. 1 album in the US.

It is according to Billboard magazine that the "Born This Way" album has sold 1.11 million copies during the week ended May 29. It's the highest sales figures since 50 Cent's debut album "The Massacre" sold 1.14 million copies in it's first week in March 2005. Despite being so high, she doesn't hold the record for highest 'first week' sales - that honor is still help by boy band 'N Sync who hold the top spot with 2.4 million copies for their 2000 album "No Strings Attached".
