SA shines in global talent search!

In the Avon Voices international online singing competition, the SA contestants have nabbed the second highest number of places in round 2 of the competition - The UK coming first and Spain coming in third. Six of the 188 contestants going through to the next round are South Africans!

Avon Products officially launched the competition last year in August in celebration of its 125th Anniversary: The online signing competition is for women and songwriting competition for men and women. From the over 6000 entries received from all over the world, Lynn Brooks, Kgalelelo Motlafi, Melina Katende, Elsche van Wyk, Yolande Strauss and Nondumiso Nyembezi are all going through to Paris to compete in the next round.

According to Happi Magazine "the goal of the talent search is to find two talented singers—one an Avon Representative—who may have the opportunity to record a professionally produced album, according to the company."

Andrea Jung, CEO and chairman of Avon Products, Inc. said that "Avon Voices will celebrate Avon's heritage and our future, as we raise women up through beauty, inspiration and song." Fergie, Diane Warren, Natasha Bedingfield, Lea Salonga, Valeriy, Delta Goodrem Ivete Sangalo, Sheila E., David Pack, and Maia will all be serving as judges.
