Johannesburg- If you are planning on using the N1 North or South today then think again!
After a massive accident that took place last night around 5pm, the highway has been closed. Yesterday in peak hour traffic a truck carrying metal rods crashed into a cement truck, it was thought that there were no fatalities but a man was discovered under the track by rescue workers.
The highway has been close for safety reasons as one of the trucks hit a crane used for roadworks and the crane is now at risk of falling over- once it has been stabilized and the scene has been properly cleared of any possible danger- the road will be re-open.
For the meantime, take back roads and please drive with care!
